Brighton signs Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht for 163m

Verbruggen joins the Seagulls from Anderlecht

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht for a fee in the region of £16.3 million.

Verbruggen, 20, has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League club and will provide competition for current number one Robert Sanchez.

The Belgian youth international has made 47 appearances for Anderlecht since making his debut in 2021 and has also represented his country at under-21 level.

Verbruggen is Brighton's second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Levi Colwill from Chelsea.

The Seagulls are looking to build on a successful 2022/23 campaign in which they finished ninth in the Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
